When doing this quest DarkWolfNine failed on the first attempt or at least the Quest Log showed it as failed. However, given the change in wording of the second attempt which DID NOT fail I assume this is a quest you can choose which outcome it will have. The first Log is of the failed attempt and the second Log is of the completed attempt...
