In order to accurately show how each attribute effects your character I downloaded a level 150 starter Battle Mage. This Battle Mage had not used any of its skill or attribute points and I also stripped it of all gear (except when checking Weapon Damage). Below you will see: Increase Weapon * Damage by 0.001545 of the "weapon's base damage". Well this is how the formula works:
If the base damage of a weapon is 2000 the formula will look like this...
2000 x 0.001545 = 3.09
Therefore, your damage with ONE point into Strength will make the Physical Damage increase by 3.09 points.
