Ref: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/12/what-are-the-different-roles/
From the WorPress FAQ:
What are the different roles?
There are four roles: Administrator, Editor, Author, and Contributor.
Here is what they can do:
Administrator
The Admin can do everything. Complete power over posts, comments, settings, theme choice, import, users – the whole shebang. Nothing is off-limits, including deleting the entire blog.
Editor
They can publish any posts, edit any posts, edit any published posts, edit any pages, moderate comments, manage categories, manage links and upload files. They can also delete any posts and any pages. They can read, edit and delete private posts.
Author
Is able to edit their posts, publish their posts and upload files. And they can delete their posts too.
Contributor
They can edit their posts but cannot publish.
Advice
Be careful what roles you give people, especially if you want them to be an Editor or joint Administrator – Editors can delete content, and Administrators can remove users, including you. Promoting someone is easy – removing a role is much harder.
Using my new count-down timer, the next Basic Computer Class starts on 28 May 2008 at 1700 or in approximately:
Of course, if I’m going to keep this going, I will need to make sure it is updated to the next class dates as soon as I start a new class. You may click on the title of each timer to get additional information about the class. The entire series is on an approximate 10 week cycle.
I have added a table Plugin. Hope it works …
This is your first demo table
| Column 1 | Column 2 | Column 3 |
|---|---|---|
| C1R2 | C2R2 | C3R3 |
| C1R3 | C2R3 | C3R3 |
| The table works, will the cells expand to hold large amounts of text? | Yes, it appears that they do. | Now I can include tabular data in my Blog posts. |
Well, it’s the start of 2008 and I started a new HTML class on the 3rd of January. Since I only have 7 days to teach a very basic intro to HTML programming and Blog usage, I hope I am able to convey enough information to at least whet their appetite.Â
My poor efforts are reflected on my website in my Students page.So far, this will only be the second class where I not only helped them create their own simple website but also had them sign up for a WordPress Blog.

Hmm, the smilies don’t seem to work now. Must do some investigating … ah, the correct smilie code isn’t being generated. Next step, find and correct the code.
… I’ve been busy teaching and updating website and forum software. We will be going on a short trip over the July 4th week, so I won’t be around then but hopefully nothing will fall apart while I’m gone.
I’m still not sure I like this mode of communication. It feels like I’m talking to myself. I much prefer a forum, though I have been known to use Chat as well. I suppose the only way to find out for sure is to continue using it.
I do like the line of new smilies that show up under the Post block when writing a new post. Too bad there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to use them …
As always, I am looking forward to the start of classes today. I wonder who the students will be, what their prior knowledge will be, and how well will I be able to help them learn about HTML.
Class starts in about 3 hours, so I shouldn’t have long to wait.
I have added the Spell-Check option. If you wish to check the spelling of anything you have entered in a post, just click on the Check Spelling button at the bottom of the text entry window.

Spell Check now works but there is no spell check word data. I will have to deactivate it until I can get the proper data loaded.
I started my computer career as a programmer back in 1974, so I thought the title for my first blog fairly appropriate. I am exploring this new area of the Internet with the idea of being better able to inform my Computer students about it. As I learn more I will be better able to share my knowledge with them.
More to come later.

I seem to be having problems with the comments in here. There are comments shown for all my original posts but I cannot seem to access them, even in Admin-Edit mode.
