It probably would be a good idea to discuss this issue. Parents probably should be as up to date on new technology as their kids are. That way they are in a better position to keep their kids safe and informed! Kids are less likely to try and get away with stuff if they know that their parents aren't technologically uneducated. We shouldn't check out of situations because they are sometimes unpleasant for us. If we are engaged in our kids lives we can help them learn for themselves better.

Shortly after I heard about the good and bad things about myspace, my adult daughter informed me my adult son had a myspace account. So naturally I checked it out.

Myspace is a cool place to get in touch with people you have lost contact with. My daughter was able to look up old friends from another state with ease. You can search for people, bands, and such, on myspace.

The down side is like anything else on the web, parents need to monitor what their kids are doing. I browsed around on myspace and it didn't take very long to come across porn on member’s sites. Although myspace does not condone porn, porn runs rampant on myspace. My daughter and I reported such sites to myspace admin and unfortunately, the nude photos were not taken off.

Myspace for the most part is adult orientated. If my kids were young, I would not allow them to frequent that site.
