Removing the Windows 98 Splash Screen.

There is a splash screen that runs while your OS is loading that hides what is going on behind the scenes. If you are trying to fix your computer or just want to know what is going on, you need to remove this screen.

Open MSDOS.SYS with Notepad.

Look under the section labeled [Options].

Edit the entry Logo=1 to Logo=0.
If it isn't there, add the entry:
Logo=0

For those less sure of their technical competence, there is a program available from Microsoft called TweakUI that will do this, among other things, for you.

Hi, I never knew you could disable the startup splash screen.
If you want to remove the splash screen for this boot only you can press escape.

Do you know how it is possible to alter the startup splash screens?
I know it can be done as I've seen bought machines which have the manufacturer's logo on it etc.

I would assume<---- keyword here you can replace the windows screen with another one.
I know you can do it with the sound. Instead of the normall windows sound file you can put in a voice file( example) or something.

Im at this moment not really sure anymore how to, have to look it up. But a couple of years ago i seriously thought about changing it into a spoken text: "Welcome Mistress, i am ready to work for you".
As start up sound for windows XP.

So if someone wants to know how, let me know wich operating system and ill try and find out again :mrg:

Welcome Mistress, I am ready to work for you.

So she whispers in his ear, "Clean my house!"

When I had problems with my sound card a few years ago, when I got it going again I found a great sound file which I had play on startup.
It said "Your sound card is working" in a rather odd voice. :D
