Postby Krank » Sun 2006 Dec 03 3:25

K this might be kinda weirdish, to me it feels that way anyway, but here goes....

I have " the new and inproved" IE 7 installed on my machine.
And since im running it, its clogging my system, atleast it feels like that.
At first i thought...nah cant be that bad...maby i need to get used to it, but no go there it still feeling wrong so to speak.

It takes ages before my machine loads a site, i cant multitask anymore like im used to do, how did you do? you might ask...

Runing wow and 3 websites and xfire or media player never felt like im putting my machine to its top of performance

Now i cant open 1 site anymore with wow running, not even talking xfire or mediaplayer anymore....

any id's?

I'm having the same problems with the one system I allowed IE7 to install on. I wonder if they are using IE7 to spy on us? It sure acts like spyware ... :(

I cut pretty much every "Feature" I know how, and it seems to improve speed. Don't know how to cut that pesky search "feature" though.

basically you are all saying it slows down your system, unless you disable all the extra's, and then its still slow and nothing worth downloading.

solution to all your problems is presented by Repr

remove IE7 and get FF2.0 works like a charm, and i can easily let it run 3 browsers with a dozen tabs while gaming along.

I haven't tried IE7 yet, but I've been using FireFox for quite a while now, and have just upgraded to version 2.0 - I have found on my pc that even this doesn't seem to respond as quickly as the older 1.5.x versions did.

Plus of course they've changed the layout of the toolbars, so nothing is ever where youd expect it to be!

Unless you really want the newest version, I wouldn't bother upgrading FireFox at all for now.

Well, since you asked [smile]

I'm running IE7 on a new machine (1gb ram, dual-core) with no problems. I connect via Cablevision BB, which in my area tests out at speeds over 10megs.

As with most Microsoft newer software, the newer software needs newer/newest hardware to run well -- and for those who dislike Microsoft stuff -- yes, I know, this need for newer hardware is regardless of whether the newer software provides any, to you, benefit over older Microsoft software or other third-party wares.

That said, K, what version OS are ya running and on what generation HW?

Everyone tells me AMD has no more problems than Intel.

That said, and to use a quote made famous (sorta) by West Wing:

I don't know... :-D

Krank, it looks like you are running two different brands and types of memory in your computer. Are you sure they are compatible? It may be that basic windows may not see all 1024 MB RAM?

What Internet connection do you have?

Nope Spock, it does see it all and uses it all :) but for those who wanna know...
Yeap its an old system but still goes like an charm so far, hardware wise, about to start borking on me , but still :p

I went ff 2.0 and trust me its worth it.
For 1 i didnt take off the IE since that is easier for win. updates.
I just set ff to be my default browser
Installed it and whoopie off we went :)
