AVG Virus Protection Update?

Spock you mentioned the Free anti virus AVG would expire this Jan 15th or so. I'm guessing the update would not be automatic. Have you seen or heard anything more on this?

Yes, you go to the Grisoft website, DL the new version, remove the old version, and install the new.
The free version is available on this page.

If you're even lazier than me, you should be able to click on this link to actually DL the program.

Oh wait, was that last link actually to a Spam site? }:->

Yes, I am lazier then you. The things you have to do to get free programs!

Thanks Spock!

Because I'm so lazy, I'm going to wait till the 15th to do it.

I just installed the new version on my computer. I would recommend disconnecting your computer from the Internet before you uninstall the old version and install the new so there is no chance something malicious can sneak in while you are updating.

Once you've updated, you will have to reconnect to the Internet and run the in-program update routine to make sure you have the latest virus definitions before you will have full protection.

Did I mention I procrastinate? I never did Update my AVG. Because of this and I also stopped doing virus scans I ended up with Trojans. Sometimes it doesn't pay to take short cuts!

Now the important question, were you able to remove them all?

Yes, with a reformat. I lost a lot.

Lesson I learned... virus scan, virus scan, virus scan, spyware check, back up!

AVG does automatic updates and has a scheduler for virus scans. I had not done a virus scan in a long time and I never did uninstall the old AVG and install the updated version AVG.
