PCTalk's Terms Of Service (TOS)
User Agreement
While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is nearly impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge you understand that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of their authors and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable for what others post here.
You agree, through your use of this PCTalk forum, not to post any material that is abusive, defamatory, false, harassing, hateful, inaccurate, invasive of privacy, obscene, sexually-explicit, slanderous, threatening, vulgar, or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Legal action may be taken against you if any administrator and/or moderator becomes aware of such practices. Doing so may also lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.
This applies to your profile information as well. Those applying with objectionable usernames or information will not be allowed membership. This site is mostly aimed at students new to computers and, as such, is more restrictive in such things than a general public site. Please keep this in mind when registering.
You agree that the webmaster, administrators, and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move, or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree any information you have entered can be stored in our database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator, and moderators will not be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also inappropriate to this forum. Furthermore, you agree not to post any links to warez sites or sites that are known not to check for the possibility of malware (viruses, worms, trojans, backdoors etc.)
This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered, they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. The email address you provided is used only for confirming your registration details and password and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one. It is recommended that you do not display your email address or other contact information unless you don't mind it becoming public knowledge. Most of this site and forum are open to the general public to read.
Note that it is impossible for us to confirm the validity of posts on this PCTalk forum. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the posted messages and are not responsible for their content. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information presented. The messages express the views of their author and are not necessarily the views of this PCTalk forum. Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an administrator of this forum immediately. We have the rights to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy goes for member profile information as well.
You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless this forum, and any related websites to this forum. We at this PCTalk forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any information we have about you) in the event of a legal complaint or legal action arising from any information posted by you.
You have the ability, as you register, to choose your username. We advise that you keep the name appropriate. With the user account you are about to register, you agree to never give your password out to another individual, for your and our protection and for validity reasons. You also agree to NEVER use another member's account to post messages or browse this forum.
This site was set up primarily as an aid to teaching about the Internet and related topics, and as such was never meant to support a large population. We do accept non-student users, but try to find out a little about them before allowing them access. It may take us up to a week before we grant you full access. Initially you will be restricted to a private, hidden forum where only you and the Admins may see what you post so we can determine if you are a god match for our Community. Your email, username, website and any other information you provide will not be visible to the public until you have been granted full membership status and it is recommended you not publish any such information after that time either. If you find your account has been deleted, you have been denied access for some reason, usually inappropriate choice of username or email, spamming the forum, or some other anomaly. Knowing this, if you still desire to register, please send an email to the WebMaster requesting clarification.
NOTE: When you register, we recommend you allow a cookie to be set. By not doing so, you will not be "remembered" as a registered user next time you (try to) log in and you will be required to enter your username and password each time. Also, we have a "jump to last post read" function that will not work. It's your choice.
